About Me

My photo
Hi! I'm Eunice and I live in Bolton, Lancashire, with my two dogs Sophie and Sugar and an assortment of cats - well it used to be Sophie and Sugar, now it's Sophie and Poppie. I first began camping back in 1997 when my then partner took me to Anglesey for my birthday weekend. We slept in the back of the car - a hatchback - using the cushions off the settee at home as a mattress, and cooked and brewed up on a single burner camping stove. The site was good, the views were great, the weather fantastic and I was completely hooked. Following that weekend we got a two-man tent and some proper accessories and returned to Anglesey two weeks later, then over time we progressed to a three-man tent followed by an old trailer tent, then a new trailer tent, a campervan and finally a caravan. When my partner decided that the grass was greener on the other side of the street - literally - in April 2009 and I suddenly found myself alone after fifteen years, I decided there was no way I was going to give up camping and caravanning if I could cope on my own. This blog is the story of my travels, trials and tribulations since becoming a solo camper - I hope you like it

Sunday October 9th 2016 - I've started a new blog

I recently decided that to keep myself occupied during the winter non-camping months I would write another blog and I started it a couple of days ago. It has nothing at all to do with camping, it's a totally different subject and format, touching on my life in general and the various things which happen in it, so it's completely separate to this blog. That doesn't mean I'll be ignoring this one though, I still have posts and photos in mind to keep it ticking over while I'm not on my camping travels.

I've just written my 'about me' page and the first post on the new blog - you can find them here at https://mousehouselife.wordpress.com/ Admittedly it's been a bit of a struggle getting my head round a completely different system with a different blog hosting site and I've had to edit, delete and rewrite things several times but it's getting there slowly. It's not a daily diary or a journal and I'll only be writing about things which I think are worth mentioning, but hopefully what I do write will be worth reading. As always I welcome any comments, so do hop over there for a read and let me know what you think.

  1. Good lucl with your new blog
    Will pop over.

  2. Just popped over to your new blog, sorry about your mishap whilst taking your dog out. I couldn't find where to leave a comment there.

    1. It should say 'leave a comment' directly under the post heading next to the date - let me know if it doesn't and i'll have to play around with it later, though that how it shows up for me.

  3. I just had a look too and the comments box isn't there for me either. Sorry about the nasty fall, hope your knee and hand are now better.

  4. You obviously got the comments box before I had time to reply on here lol.

The knee is almost back to normal now, the hand is still quite sore but healing gradually - it looked quite a mess when I first did it though :(

  5. I'm really pleased to learn you've started a new blog Eunice. I already felt I was going to miss your posts over the coming winter months especially now that we have met in person.

I have been reading that several bloggers are having problems with Blogger, losing links and photos in their sidebars. I recently had a problem that all my photos moved to the right but I sought help on the Blogger forum and cured it with a couple of lines of code in the settings. I realised that my blog was important to me after all :) I don't blame you trying out wordpress but not sure I have the patience you have to learn new ways :) I'll hop over there right now and check out your new blog and add it to my Bloglovin' list. Well done Eunice, great news :)

  6. It's nice to know that I would be missed Eileen, although I won't be abandoning this blog completely, just not writing as much if I'm not camping. The new blog is a completely different venture for me so i'm keeping my fingers crossed it turns out okay :)

I really appreciate good comments - who doesn't? - but due to a recent tide of spam from anonymous readers all comments will now be moderated, and only those with a direct bearing on this blog will be published. I'm sure my regular blog readers/commenters will understand the need for this - and to anyone whose comment isn't published, you know why.
