Most of the properties were easy to recognise as they looked more or less the same as they had done many many years ago but some took a bit more finding as due to modernisation and other factors they now bear very little resemblance to the originals. Eventually, aided by the brochure and a history guide purchased from the tea rooms, I managed to tick off all the properties I was looking for, although none of them appear in this post. Allonby is such an attractive little place that I found many other things to photograph and over the course of several hours I took well over sixty shots.
It was early evening by the time I'd got all the photos I wanted and by then the sun was in the wrong direction for anything else. I'd actually been told by more than one person that the sunsets there are really good but as much as I would have liked to stay until the sun went down it had been quite a long day and the three of us had done much walking, so it was time to say goodbye to this lovely little village and head back to the camp site.
**The interesting history of Allonby and its various properties can now be found on my other blog starting here.
