Saturday August 27th 2016 - Another North Wales weekend

A sunny morning at 8am saw me leaving home for another weekend in North Wales, this time staying at Felin Uchaf, the peaceful little camp site where I stayed at Easter. With no traffic delays the driving was easy and less than an hour and a half later I was pulling into the main car park at Llangollen, about eleven miles from the site. My pitch wouldn't be available until noon so I'd arranged to meet up with my ex's brother and sister-in-law, Alan and Louise, for a coffee and a natter beforehand - they were travelling round in their campervan and would be somewhere near Llyn Brenig, which wasn't a million miles from where I was going. I was just about to text Louise to tell her where I was when she rang me; they were parked in a lay-by not far from the lake so we agreed that I should go straight there as they would be moving on to somewhere else later on.

The lay-by was easy to find so I pulled in next to their van and after introducing Sophie and Poppie to Mollie the Collie we set off in convoy to do the short distance to Llyn Brenig itself. We chose an outdoor table on the cafe balcony overlooking the lake and spent a very pleasant hour or so of good conversation over a couple of mugs of coffee each, though I have to say that the conversation was much better than the coffee. Taste-wise it was okay but temperature-wise it was nowhere near hot enough - and for someone who likes a brew to be hot that was just about drinkable; even Louise said the same so it wasn't just me thinking that.

All too soon though it was time for us to go our separate ways so we took the dogs for a short walk along the lakeside then returned to the car park and said our goodbyes. As I left Llyn Brenig behind I also left the sun with it and by the time I got to the camp site it was really grey and cloudy; it hadn't improved by the time I'd set up camp so other than a quick trip into Corwen for a look round the shops I gave up the idea of going anywhere else just then. The rest of the day was spent relaxing with the book I was currently reading, then just as the daylight started to fade I took Sophie and Poppie for a last walk down the farm track to the lane and back. It had been a long day so it was a very early bedtime for the three of us, and as we settled down for the night we all had fingers and paws crossed for some good weather for the rest of the weekend.
