Wednesday June 8th 2011 - Back to work

I woke early to yet another glorious morning - far too nice to be going home. In a perverse way I wished it was raining - a wet morning would have encouraged me to pack up and leave but the cloudless blue sky and sunshine just made me want to stay longer. But duty called, I had to be at work for 5pm and there was no time for dilly-dallying so I had to get up and make a start. With the dogs on their line outside the awning I had a quick breakfast then set about packing everything away and by 8.30 I only had the awning to take down. Before I did that though I went out with the camera and took the last few pictures of my holiday - my van and awning on an empty site!

With the awning finally taken down and the blinds removed from the front and back of the van it was time to take the dogs for their last walk of the holiday - going through the site and across the camping field I went down onto the beach via the nearby steps and walked along as far as the next set of steps before turning round and heading back the other way. There was hardly anyone around just then and the sunshine, blue sky, calm sea and the dogs running happily along the sand made for a perfect morning, but all too soon it was time to go back to the van and set off for home. I left the site at 10am and had a relatively easy journey home with only a couple of stops - I love driving, and with a couple of my favourite cds to sing along to I really enjoy a long journey. The only problem came when I reached the outskirts of Manchester and got caught up in the beginning of the early evening rush hour - at one point it was touch and go whether I would make it home to get to work on time but I did - just. And as I loaded dishwashers, polished desks and vacuumed carpets my mind was not only going back over the last ten days but also looking forward to the next holiday down at California.
